About

At Wright Homeschool Academy, we believe that education should be meaningful, flexible, and inspiring. As an online academy serving students ages 4–16 around the world, we specialize in offering dynamic, discussion-based classes that promote critical thinking, curiosity, and connection.

Founded in 2021 by Alastair and Rebecca Wright, Wright Homeschool Academy was born out of a desire to provide high-quality, engaging, and values-conscious online education for homeschooling families. As passionate homeschool educators themselves, the Wrights envisioned a space where students could thrive academically while being encouraged to think deeply and grow confidently.

We understand that every learner is unique, which is why we focus on offering thoughtfully curated curriculum and small-group instruction that supports each student’s individual pace, interests, and learning style.

Our dedicated educators are not only subject-matter experts but also deeply committed mentors who foster a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment where students feel heard, seen, and supported.

Whether it’s exploring mythology, history, science, or developing critical thinking skills, we aim to equip students with the tools they need to engage fully — both academically and personally.

At Wright Homeschool Academy, we’re not just teaching lessons. We’re shaping futures.

Our Mission

We exist to reimagine what homeschooling can be. Wright Homeschool Academy delivers dynamic online learning experiences that equip young learners to think deeply, ask big questions, and engage with the world. Our mission is to make high-quality education accessible, empowering families to lead their learning journeys with confidence.

Our Philosophy

At Wright Homeschool Academy, we believe homeschooling is a powerful path to meaningful, personalized education. We are committed to nurturing critical thinking, curiosity, and a love of learning through engaging, live online classes. Our goal is to support homeschool families with high-quality instruction that encourages students to question, explore, and grow with confidence.

Our Learner-Centered Approach

At Wright Homeschool Academy, we take a truly learner-centered approach—honoring each student’s unique strengths, needs, and learning style. Our live, online classes are designed to be flexible, engaging, and supportive, with a strong focus on critical thinking and curiosity-driven learning. We are proudly neurodivergent-friendly and intentionally structure our courses to be accessible for students with dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia, dyspraxia, and both auditory and visual processing disorders.

By offering multiple ways to interact with material and fostering an encouraging, low-pressure environment, we empower students to participate in ways that feel comfortable and meaningful to them. Our goal is to support homeschool families with high-quality education that adapts to the learner—not the other way around.

Our Curriculum

At Wright Homeschool Academy, our curriculum is thoughtfully designed to ignite curiosity, build critical thinking skills, and foster a lifelong love of learning.

With over 20 years of combined experience in curriculum development, our founders and educators craft custom lessons and units that are both academically rigorous and deeply engaging. Every course is intentionally structured to meet the needs of homeschool learners — blending creativity, structure, and flexibility.

We proudly develop the majority of our curriculum in-house, allowing us to adapt to our students’ learning styles, interests, and developmental stages. Our original curriculum emphasizes:

  • Discussion-based learning

  • Integrated critical thinking and problem-solving

  • Hands-on and interactive projects

  • Multidisciplinary connections between subjects like history, science, mythology, and more

In addition to our custom-created resources, we also incorporate trusted educational materials from respected American publishers, including McGraw-Hill, to ensure our students receive a solid academic foundation aligned with recognized standards.

Our balanced approach allows students to experience the best of both worlds: creative, personalized instruction and the academic credibility of proven curriculum resources.

At Wright Homeschool Academy, we’re not just following a curriculum — we’re designing an educational experience that fits each learner, supports homeschool families, and builds confident, capable thinkers.

Safeguarding

At Wright Homeschool Academy, ensuring the safety, well-being, and dignity of every student is our top priority. We are fully committed to providing a secure, respectful, and supportive online learning environment for all children and young people in our care.

This Safeguarding Policy outlines how we protect our students during live, online classes and the procedures we follow to uphold the highest standards of child protection.

1. Our Commitment to Student Safety

We believe every child deserves to learn in a safe environment, free from harm, bullying, and inappropriate behavior. Our safeguarding approach is proactive, thorough, and rooted in the best practices of online education.

2. Trained and Vetted Educators

  • All educators and staff at Wright Homeschool Academy undergo comprehensive safeguarding training, including how to recognize and respond to potential concerns.

  • Every teacher must pass a Criminal Record Check (or equivalent in their country) before beginning instruction and must renew this clearance annually.

  • Educators are trained in appropriate online conduct, professional boundaries, and creating inclusive virtual classroom spaces.

3. Safe Online Learning Environment

  • All live classes are conducted through secure, password-protected platforms.

  • Parental controls and age-appropriate settings are in place for younger students.

  • Classes may be recorded for quality assurance and safety monitoring, and access is limited to parents/guardians of enrolled students.

  • Students and teachers must adhere to our Code of Conduct, which outlines respectful, appropriate online behavior.

4. Open Communication and Reporting

  • We encourage open communication between students, parents, teachers, and administrators.

  • If a student, parent, or teacher has a safeguarding concern, it should be reported immediately to our Designated Safeguarding Lead.

  • All safeguarding concerns are taken seriously and handled with confidentiality, care, and in accordance with legal obligations.

5. Supporting Families and Students

  • Wright Homeschool Academy provides support and guidance to families navigating online learning and student well-being.

  • We recognize that safeguarding extends beyond immediate safety and includes emotional and social well-being.

  • Where necessary, we will refer families to appropriate support services or professionals.

6. Parental Involvement

We value strong partnerships with families. Parents/guardians of younger students (ages 4–8) may be asked to remain nearby during classes and are welcome to contact our team with any concerns or questions.

7. Ongoing Policy Review

Our safeguarding practices are regularly reviewed and updated in line with national and international guidance, as well as emerging best practices in online education.

If you have any questions or concerns about this policy or the safety of your child while enrolled with us, please contact our Safeguarding Lead at admin@wrighthomeschoolacademy.ca.

Together, we can create a learning space where children feel safe, supported, and empowered to grow.

8. Class Recordings

To support flexibility and reinforce learning, most of our live classes are recorded and shared with enrolled families. Recordings are helpful for catching up on missed sessions or reviewing key concepts—but we also take your child’s privacy seriously.

Recordings are securely stored and only accessible to currently enrolled families through a private, password-protected platform. We never share recordings publicly. Cameras and microphones are optional for students, and we encourage families to choose the level of participation that feels right for them.

Any concerns around student safety or inappropriate behavior in a live class will be reviewed using the recordings, as part of our commitment to safeguarding all learners.
