Co-Owner and Lead Educator

About Me

A history buff with a passion for uncovering hidden truths, I thrive on transforming traditional history lessons into dynamic, eye-opening experiences. I specialize in teaching through the lens of conspiracies, controversies, and lesser-known historical events, using these intriguing stories to spark curiosity and develop strong critical thinking skills. Watching students light up with excitement over topics many consider dull is one of the most rewarding parts of my work. At Wright Homeschool Academy, I am dedicated to helping learners not just memorize facts but question sources, analyze perspectives, and engage deeply with the past. My goal is to empower students to become thoughtful, inquisitive thinkers who carry these skills beyond history class and into every aspect of life.

Alastair’s classes are a breath of fresh air. My 13-year-old actually looks forward to logging in each week—which has never happened before. He encourages respectful debate, deep thinking, and independent learning in a way that feels empowering, not overwhelming. Highly recommend for families wanting something beyond the usual textbook approach.

I wasn’t sure my kid would be into mythology, but Alastair totally hooked him. He’s been retelling the stories at bedtime and even drew a comic about Loki this week. The class is fun, and I like that it’s not dumbed down—just super engaging.

We’ve taken several online courses over the years, but Alastair’s classes stand out. He doesn’t just teach history or critical thinking—he models what it means to question, analyze, and discuss with confidence. My daughter is more articulate, curious, and informed than I’ve ever seen her. We’ll be back next term!

This class [Critical Thinking] has sparked some big conversations at our house. Alastair asks questions that really get the kids thinking. My daughter has started asking ‘why?’ a lot more—and not in an annoying way! I can tell she’s learning to think for herself.

If you’re tired of fluff and filler, Alastair’s your guy. His content is deep but accessible, and he treats kids like capable, thinking people. My 11-year-old son—who usually resists anything resembling school—finished the class and said, “When’s the next one start?” That’s all I needed to hear.

It’s the first time I’ve seen my kid actually care about history. I really dreaded teaching my 8 year old history myself, so, I signed him up for World History with Alastair. Thank goodness I did! Alastair is much more knowledgeable than I could ever be. Absolutely worth it!
